• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I'm a non-drinker but when I received this in my email I figured there would be a few of you on the list that might be of interest.

*** What Ales You
Beer isn't just for kicking back after work anymore. Served with dinner or used to prepare it, fine ales and lagers are garnering the serious attention normally reserved for wine. They are an excellent addition to any cook's arsenal--light bodied pilsners go great with spicy sausages, and full-bodied ales are perfect cooked with braised ribs or served alongside them. Once the main course is over, chocolaty stouts are great for cheesecake or cookies. No matter what you're planning for dinner, let Allrecipes.com be your guide to the beers and recipes for tonight's brewfest.

Cool Thanks for sharing!
My drinkin' days are over, but I'll still use beer in marinades and injections, in fact I just picked up "Real Beer and Good Eats" by Bruce Aidells, its kinda old (1992) but I found it along with some Paul Prudhomme and vintage grilling books at a garage sale for a buck, my OL said don't be clutterin up my kitchen wit dem ol cookbooks, and proceeded to show me the allrecipes site on her favorites! She got rid of a chit load of books and I ddidn't even miss them- gotta go throw some blue tarps over my cookers!!

I can't stay awake long enough to drink like I used to.

Beer gives sauces a distinct flavor. I used to pour a can of beer in a pot of Ranch Style beans. MMMMMM Great side.

I started using a hickory porter homebrew in my bbq sauce recently, and it's received rave reviews!

... some for the sauce, some for me... some more for me... a little more for me... guess I have to open another bottle so I can add some more for the sauce... and some more for me...

Thank you...thank you...thank you...this is proof that there is a beer god!

I'm at work now but I have a kickass beer bread recipe I'll post later.

This is my mom's recipe. My kids love it. It makes great toast too.

Beer Bread

3 cups of self rising flour or to each cup add 1 1/4 teaspoon baking powder & a pinch of salt
1/3 cup sugar
1 can/bottle of beer

Stir all together and bake in a greased loaf pan for 1 hour @ 350*. Remove from oven and spread butter over the top while still warm.
