I've seasoned my other pits with Crisco but I've been seeing guys using cooking spray a lot now? I'm about to season my new Humphreys Pint and I'm wondering if any other vertical owners used Crisco or cooking spray or does it even matter??? Thx!

Don't think it matters. I use Pam spray a for the generic brand buy a few cans and spray them down. Works out good and cheap!

I used spray on my last seasoning of my offset last weekend and it seemed to work well. I also used it on my backwoods a few years back and seems just fine.

Thx guys! What about the firebox, did you spray that down too?

I just used cooking spray for the whole thing on my Downeast Beast... Worked great.

My first seasoning on the beast was with cooking spray. It didn't last too long at all. Since then I have always uses crisco.

No sense in seasoning the fire box, it will just burn away.

Inside or outside or both? I never did the inside, but the outside after a few cooks I would hit the firebox of my stick burner with some canola oil.

Edit: Forgot this was Humpreys so you would only really ever do the inside of the firebox if at all. But that you don't need to do for me.

I have 10 gallons of used frying oil that will be used in my LSG when I season it. I really don't think it matters what you use.

I bought a small case of large cans of Pam spray when I got my vertical offset. Realized it was over kill when I used two cans to spray it all down. But, been using it after every cook. Now that I have the cabinet coming soon, I am glad I still have some.
