• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I plan to do all the mods I want to do on my smoker real soon. I'm gonna try to weld up a coal basket. Someone posted one in the last month for a spicewine and got me to thinking if I could do something like that for mine. I'm wondering if this is possible giving the size of the fire box hole. Maybe I can make it in two pieces? Either way I'm gonna experiment and try to work something out for times like tonight when I want to stay away from the smoker for a few hours and get some shut eye.

My question is, how far away do the coals need to be in order to not ignite each other? Is this even gonna be possible for this small of a smoker? Anyone done anything like this?

Just make a square basket. You can do the Minion Method by building a square basket, filling up the basket with charcoal and just putting a few lit charcoals on top in one corner of the basket. Adjust your draft controls and stack so the coals smolder and not break out into flame. Thats pretty much it.
