• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Well I went ahead and bought myself a little early Christmas present today. I went online and hand picked out some BBQ rubs I've never used before. I was low on blues hog rub and out of yardbird rub so I thought I'd just place one big order. Comming my way is the following:

2lbs Billy Bones Original rub- never tried this stuff before
SpiceWine heffer dust- Wanted to give it a try and support a brethren. My brisket is just looking for a good rub
1lb YardBird rub- my chicken is naked without this stuff
1lb Blues Hog rub- gotta have it for my pork injection
8oz Blues Hog Gourmet finishing sauce- Never used this stuff before, anyone heard of it? Its supposedly (just as the title says) a finishing sauce for ribs and such.

Nothing huge, not like I got a spice wine on order or anything, but I'm excited about it.

Any opinions on the stuff I haven't tried before would be great.

Well, I have the Spicewine rub and have not used it. The Yardbird rub is THE best chicken rub out there. (I know I haven't tried them all, but it's that good). My family will not eat chicken, smoked or otherwise if I don't use Yardbird on it. I've mixed in the flour for fried chicken. It was pretty awesome in Chicken Fried Pork Steaks also.

I'm a fan...what can I say.

Me too, Todd makes a wonderful product. It greatly improved our chicken scores. Use it a lot at home and catering, folks just love it. I think one of the reasons its so popular is that it has that perfect balance between sweet and heat. Very noticeable flavors that compliment each other.

Have heard so many rave review about the yardbird...ordered some and got it today. Anxious to try some Q with it. Sounds like you can't go wrong!

My early Christmas gift to myself was 2 x MeadowCreek pig roasters (pr42's) with all the trimmings, 2nd tier racks and a new BBQ Guru DigiQ2. cant wait to brake them in!! Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

Does Todd still sell directly or did you go through a distributor?

Every time I've asked Todd he has sold to me and given me the brethren discount. He will go ahead a ship before he even has your money. Great guy to deal with. However I started thinking that if the sites that carry his rub didn't get orders for it they might not want to carry it anymore so I chose to order from them and pay a little more. The last thing I want is him to not be able to sell his product 'cause he was so good to us here. The product is unbelieveable on chicken and pretty good on everything else.

Billy's products are all great. You won't be sorry you ordered it.

I've had the pleasure of trying all of these products. Liked every one of them. BTW, Todd's yardbird rub is dang good. Even if he is a Packers fan.

Haven't tried yardbird sounds good I use alot of Texas BBQ rub and Dizzy Pig. They give bulk quantities and pricing.Looks like it's time to try some new rubs oh darn!

After I read the original post I ordered some yardbird, some blues hog (have heard a lot about it but never tried it) and some jamaican firewalk.

I meant to order some buckboard bacon cure, but I forgot to, so I may end up trying to make my own.

Merry Christmas to me (and to my family, since they get to eat what I cook)!

Good for you steve, you won't be disapointed in the yardbird and blues hog. Never tried the jamaican firewalk. The yardbird is the cat's behind on chicken and the blues hog is a great rib rub and also goes great on pulled pork. Try this: After you cook a butt and pull/shred it sprinkle a little blues hog rub in the pan with the pulled pork. My customers seem to really like that.

I came across this when i was searching BBB recently. I do not know how similar it is to the Hi-mountain stuff , as soon as i get my order i am going to try both
