Just wondering if any of you have a favorite chili receipe you could share. My son and I will be making some for a church meeting on Saturday and would like to make some chili on the smoker to give it that extra kick :-D
Any suggestions? Thanks

Need to add beans.

*ducking now*

The number one tip I've ever been given for making chili was to toast the powdered chiles, chile powder and cumin before using it. It really brings out the flavor. I also like to use smoked brisket for the meat. And, please, no beans!

Admit one to Texas.

I've not spent a lot of time in Texas, but I did learn what real chili was when I was 16! Then I came home to Ohio, and have since tried to convince people that ketchup, hamburger, and double helpings of beans does not a chili make!

jt gets a 15 min time out for starting the bean debate. He has to spend it discussing water pan issues with racer:mrgreen:

It's a sand pan.

No tomatoes or tomato products in Texas Chili either. BTW, the reason jt is in BFE is because he put beans in the chili.

I never really called mine Texas or any other State, it's jut mine. Pretty simple recipe.

Brown the meat
cut up alot of garlic, onion, sautee with meat
open and dump a couple cans of red beans
couple cans of diced tomatoes
at least 1 can of tomato paste
whatever else I have layin around the frig that sounds good
add chili powder to taste
bring to a boil
lower heat, let simmer on low for a few hours
serve with grated cheese and crackers

Don't really use a recipie but I always use smoked brisket.
