• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Cheaper and better than Bear Paws?

Would someone please describe for me the process of "pulling pork" with or with out implements. I have seen plenty of photos of what the finished product looks like. To get a pile of the same from a Bretheren wrapped butt I don't really seem to have to do much other than squish the thing a bit, clean out the excess fatty stuff and make a few cuts across the strands so its a bit more manageable. Am I missing something, do I just not get it or what?

Cut? What cut?

You cook it till it falls apart - the "h" bone falls out, etc.

I use heavy duty rubber gloves and pick the fat, remaining connectivie tissue, etc. and literally "pull" the pork into pieces.

The only thing I cut is the 3 or 4" long strands I cut in half for neatness. With the kind of facial hair I have neatness counts. Are the bear claws just for when the meat is too hot to handle by hand. I just usually wait til it comes back down to 160 or so and dive in with "bare claws". I just thought I was missing something.

nope, you got it, bear claws just makes fast work out of it. Nothing more fun than flinging pulled pork all over the kitchen counter then.. Our butts ya just punch and they explode. Bear claws....well... another toy.

Kinda like our version of Benny-hana. :)
