• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

My favorite BBQ supply closed up shop at the end of February or early March. I had just been there in the middle of February and Franco (owner) mentioned his lease was up in April. He said he plans to reopen in another location. Grillworks was pretty much the only BBQ store I've ever seen in Pittsburgh. Thank goodness for the web or I'd be in trouble.

It stinks when a reliable source goes under - or closes for relocation for extended periods of time.

He's probably closing because of his ****ty online customer service. Those swing grates he made for eggs really caused a lot of people problems and he refused to back his product. Got rude on emails. There were a lot of threads about it on the Green Egg forum.

I had read a couple negative reviews but most were positive. I never checked the Green Egg Forums. I'm also thinking that the new Gander Mountain opening next door to his former location may have something to do with it.

Seems like everything was going well till his last shipment of Swing Grates. the first gen were all good. The 2nd run was melting/deforming on peoples first use. I don't think he could afford to eat the cost of all those grates. Then what started as a manufacturing problem carried over because he couldn't just get another run of grates made.

It's hard for a small business to deal with manufacturing problems.

I just read the Green Egg Forums, wow just wow. Hard to believe it's the same guy, he was so gracious with me. The last time I was there he gave me a jar of BGE Dizzy Gourmet Kodiak River rub which I must say was excellent.

I think you can call him to get supplies by appointment. Always had great customer service with him.

Never dealt with him but I did see the negative feedback threads on the BGE forum. I think he lost a lot of potential clients from those. They went to the Ceramic Grill Store instead.

If you're looking for a new supplier of these kinds of things I've purchased a bunch of stuff from CGS and have been very impressed with the quality. They're not too far from me so I got a chance to go to his shop. The storefront itself is not very impressive but I'm sure the vast majority of his orders are from the internet. The owner is really helpful. He fabricates all the stuff in the back with his own equipment. No worries about manufacturing quality when you're making the stuff yourself.

I called the listed number which I believe is a cell and left message. No one ever got back to me. I can get anything I want on the web but it was nice having a brick and mortar where I could sample the rubs and talk BBQ.
