• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Got my policy renewal yesterday. Not going to renew it as I only use the insurance for cooking off my property.
Got a letter from some company wanting another money audit.
These morons dont get it. Had many face to face meetings w/my agent.
They want their folks to drive several hours to come to my home and audit my books.
Trust me, if your not doing any catering gigs, there are no books.
Getting tired of just trying to protect my assetes here.
Anybody else just do gigs for friends off their own property and still want to have some kind of insurance?
Not going to cook off premise here anymore, and is there anybody interested in a fully loaded Klose Mobile Pit?
Its a 30" X 8' long. If so pm me. I will be leaving town for a few days and will get back with you.

Have you thought about talking to your agent about a personal umbrella policy? This will do more for your overall asset protection.

Gotta have insurance

if your cooking for anybody, anywhere. We did the llc route, so our personal assets are protected if a lawsuit exceeds the insurance. We do have a $1,000,000 liability policy. Costs about $800 / year.

You should look at $1,000,000 though some councils will work with you on a $500,000 policy, if your local council wouldn't use you with less than $1,000,000 coverage then you should go that high as your minimum.

The reason I suggest looking at your local council, is they publish their minimum insurance coverage for contractors, and so the information is not hard to find.

Check to see with your agent if they will boast the cover X times a year for a small increase, most general liability insurance can be bumped up if you are doing something with a bigger risk, eg festival or event.

Cooking/serving food to anyone could leave you at risk. The only time you wouldnt need additional liability coverage, is if you are cooking at home for a personal function - it would be covered by your personal liability. I have an umbrella policy that covers me over and above my limits for the home/auto. You are not covered at home if you are charging for the food as a business.

We do this as well. it's only 350.00 for us for a year but it's crucial to have.
