• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Sounds like a great product. Anyone make a knock-off at home?

gtr introduced me to that a few years back, and we've always enjoyed it. To answer your question, no, BUT, you could mod my chicken skewer marinade recipe to something pretty close to CT by adding dry mustard to it:

3 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons paprika
½ teaspoon New Mexico chile powder
1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/3 cup red wine vinegar
1/2 cup olive oil
Blend all ingredients in blender till smooth. Adjust salt to taste if necessary. Marinate chicken pieces for up to 2 hours in marinade.

ya - gtr got me all hot and bothered about this sauce

I've seen other references to apple cider vinegar. Suppose that would work?

Label says they'd be happy to ship anywhere. I'm in NC and I 've never tried the stuff. Guess I need to change that.

Carolina Treet is my favorite sauce for chicken there is in the entire world.
I have been an evangelist for that sauce on here for many years.

If you are able to try it, you must!

Sorry, no clone recipe...

But the sauce is great... The magic happens when it is heated, the color and flavors change into something marvelous. I even pour it in a ramekin and heat it in the microwave for a dipping sauce...

I think BigPoppa carries it as well....

I see Amazon sells it for $13.37, is that a reasonable price, or is there somewhere better to purchase from?

So we're talking about the South Carolina version here, right? With the mustard?

Might as well go for the whole enchilada and get the gallon for $10 though

I think the one gtr and Moose were referring to is the mustard based SC version. gtr was posting pics of their crazy good time in CA and gtr was basting away with the stuff.

Maybe I should get both...
