It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. I am looking for a new canopy for smoking on rainy days only.

Would you go 10x10 or 10x20?

3 options that I have been looking at.
1. Sam's club 10x10 $199
2. Shelter Logic 6 post 10x20 $199
3. Harbor Freight 10x20 $ 149

As mentioned I wouldn't be using these as permanent shelter just for rainy day smokes.

Thanks for your opinions!!

I would look at the 10x20. We use a 10x10 to cover the Bubba Grill in comps if the weather is bad and could always use a little more elbow room. Definitely look into one easy to set up and take down. The wife bought 3 10x20s that have poles to put together and it was a pain. We've only used them at the wedding. If you can find one of the pop up types that suit your needs definitely go with that one.

I have the 10x10 Z-Shade canopy from Sam's and it's great. Very heavy duty. I use it for the backyard for those rainy days.

For that usage you want easy up and down. For the price range you are looking at, you should also consider a 12x12 pop up. Depending on your layout, the extra width might give you more usable space where you want it than the 10x20.

I saw a canopy the other week that I was really impressed with. I was running sound at a car show and the American Biker guy had a nice heavy duty canopy. The sound company I work for had been looking for one, too. Check these guys out:

They have different tube styles, different colors, and can do branding.

I am in no way affiliated with this company but I was impressed with the build quality.

Mods, if I'm not supposed to link the company, feel free to delete.

Dicks has 10 x 10 pop up tents for around $50 right now. Might be worth it if you aren't going to use it very often.

I have been pretty satisfied with the Walmart brand Ozark Trails. Got my 10 x 10 for $89. They also carry the side walls and replacement canopies for around $35. I like the fact that they have a roof vent that's screened but tented for rain. Really helps relieve the 'fly-away' issue.

Greetings,

I have two Impact Canopies and love them. One is a 10x10 with "Yours in BBQ" Logo. The other is a 10x20. Both are heavy duty, rugged, well made and easy to put up and take down. The frames are rock solid. They fit nicely in a 20x30 competition site. Impact just came out with a super waterproof and durable El Nino top.

I would highly recommend them after going through a number of el cheepo Sports Authority canopies.

Yours in BBQ,

Cliff

I got my 10 x 10s on Amazon for the best price around. Also, invest in the sides, you'll appreciate them on a rainy day. The 10 x 10s are very easy to put up and are compact when put away. Get straight leg not slant leg.

Pends how much space you need I had two 10X10 EZ Ups when I did comps You need to make sure they are secure so the wind does not take hold of them

The 10x10 designation is the foot print of the legs. A 10x10 straight leg will have a 10x10 canopy for 100 sq.ft. of shade. A 10x10 slant leg will have a 8x8 canopy for 64 sq.ft. of shade. Which one would you rather have?

10x10 is what I would want...that is some of the debate 10x10 or a 10x20.

I just noticed you have a Lang 84 according to your sig. I have an older model with round ends and the square chargrill, but I don't think basic dimensions are that far off from the new ones. A 10x10 will give just enough coverage for the main chamber and firebox. If you have the chargrill option, it will be completely exposed. You will also be standing in the rain when opening the firebox door, and you will have very little overhang on either side of the shelves so you can expect your back to get wet when tending meat. Like a waterfall off the edge wet. Basically, it will give enough coverage to keep the rain from impacting the smoker temp, but not enough to keep you dry. A 10x20 will cover the entire smoker and chargrill plus give coverage for refueling, but won't help with protecting you on the sides.

I would suggest looking for a bigger 12x12 or 13x13 if not wider. Another possibility would be a pair of 10x15's to make a 20x15. Also, check the height to make sure you have clearence for the smoke stack and heater box on the deluxe. You can set it on cinder blocks or buckets if you need to but if buying something for the purpose, you might as well buy something tall enough.

Doing big tailgate events for 10 years, I have a LOT of experience with these pop up tents. I will NEVER buy another 10x20 tent. They all ended up as twisted metal in short order. One even became airborne and jumped the trailer, landing 2 feet from where I was standing, completely unaware is was coming! They are just too big a sail for wind and they aren't sturdy enough, especially one that isn't 1,000+ commercial strength. Also, it is easy to bend the frame when folding them up.

I am a fan of the one's from Sam's club, the white 10x10 with side walls. They used to be branded as EZUP, but Sam's changed to Z shade. Apparently, they are the same canopy from the same factory. I think they are the best bang for the buck in the price range. Anything cheaper is just going to be junk.

Yep 84 deluxe with a gasser instead of a chargrill. A 10x10 would cover the smoker and gasser but not the firebox.
If I got one with sides I could maybe use a side to block the direction the wind or rain was coming from and leave rest open.
I thought this would be a lot simpler to choose

Thanks for the replies!! Keep them coming...

The site had multiple frame choices, do you know which frame you have?

for what your going to spend have you thought of a metal cheap carports for a little more money and will keep your wood dry to all year around . I see them on craigs list all the time used for 100 to 150 .
