• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Mods, I'm putting this in QTalk, since it is time sensitive. For anyone who doesn't know, Woot sells an item for 24 hours, or less, if it sells out. If it must be moved, please accept my apologies.

Woot has the Camp Chef PelletPro 2 versions on its site today for 100-150 off depending on the model. Pretty good price for a decent pellet pooper. Plus, $5 shipping. Can't beat that shipping price.

The LTD model retails for $699 and is $459 at woot
The S model retails for $529 and is $439 at woot

I saw those. The pellet hopper and controls are clearly Traeger -- the controls are the latest with the two probe option. The handle on the smoker lid looks just like the handle on my L'il Tex.

So either Traeger is making the whole thing and private labeling for Camp Chef (my guess) or Camp Chef is buying the pooper section and making the rest.

The deal is dead right now, but Woot stuff seems to have its Lazarus moments so I thought I'd post this anyway.

They had them on sale there about a month ago too. They'll be back.

As far as who makes what, Traeger shipped their manufacturing to China and what happens in China gets reproduced and rebranded and shipped all over the world for a cheaper price. More than likely they just hire the same manufacturer and went with whatever they put out.

Typically a contract manufacturer does not have the right to copy and sell a customer's product design to someone else. It's not unheard of for a few copies to go out the back door, but in a case like this I doubt that Traeger's contract manufacturer is selling the product directly.

Looking more carefully at the Woot pictures, though, I am pretty sure that Camp Chef is just private labeling a slightly altered version of the L'il Tex. Revised sheet metal on the pellet hopper top and on the main chamber top, move the chimney from the side to the back and you are pretty well done. I doubt that Camp Chef had much to do with the detailed design.
