• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Has anyone here ever ordered Brisket Online? Reason I ask is because I pay a premium from my local guy ($5.99 lb :tsk:), so I figure at that price, I may as well look online to see what is available. Holy Scnikeeees!!! Lots to choose from. I was overwhelmed by the availability of Briskets online. Of course the whole shipping thing is a conundrum to me. Do they freeze the brisket, than ship it? BTW, I am in the Boston, MA area if anyone can point me in the direction of a good locakl butcher. I have a good one, he's just pricey as hell.

Try Sam's Club, Costco, or Walmart....

I tried Walmart, and the ones in my area do not carry brisket. I keep hitting a wall when I venture out to try and find brisket. It's almost as if there is none, at a reasonable price, here in the North East. I called the Restaurant Depot's in my area, and all of them want a tax form proving that I own a business. I don't, so they are out also. :mmph:

They only carry briskets in our area in the summertime. Any time else, it is no go. That being said, when they do, the Sams Clubs usually carry good looking Choice grade, and the Wal-Marts carry the Select. My local butcher wants $6.99/lb for Choice. It's crazy. My plan is to stock up next time they are in, and go from there.

Join the KCBS....RD will let you in if you show them that card. Lot's of guys on here have gained access to RD that way....

Is there a Restaurant Depot in your area, some of guys on here are getting in without a venders lic but I know the ones around me require a business lic

Snake River Farms is a wonderful source for top quality brisket online. Also try creekstone farms or Pat Lafrieda. Pat Lafrieda briskets come fully trimmed ready for the smoker so it's not as high price as it first appears. It's in line with the other vendors when you take that into account.

Most of them are flash frozen and then shipped with gel packets. Watch for shipping costs, they can be high.

I have ordered numerous times from Creekstone, Pat Lafrieda and SNR, all quality products. However, SNR, arrives frozen, as did 2 I ordered from Creekstone Farms.

I agree on Snake River Farms, Creekstone Farms, and Pat Lafrieda. They will all be over $100 though. Pat Lafrieda will be the only one that will be unfrozen. They state on their website that their meat is custom cut just for you and never frozen. The one I got from them was beautiful, looked fresher than the others and as stated, pretty much ready for the smoker.

So, BJ's was a success!!! All kinds of meats for a smoker!!! They had 2 briskets, neither which I bought due to them being sub par, IMHO. But, the butcher told me they get brisket in every weeks. So, I renewed my membership...

$5.99 per pound is not expensive for Choice or better from a dedicated butcher shop. You're not going to do better online unless your a wholesale customer.

The KCBS website has listed as one of the benefits of membership: "One-day shopping pass at any Restaurant Depot location when you present your KCBS membership card." A one-day pass would be fine, but it wouldn't really do you much good if it was only for one day. Do they actually mean one day?

Yes, but you can go in every day and show them the KCBS card and they will give you another day pass. I use it all the time. KCBS years fees are $35 I think.

so you renewed your membership for $55:confused: to buy brisket for $70. sounds like double the price. Unless you use BJ for other shopping. I found I wasted my money on costco, as I had to go to shoprite for my grocery any way

Just received a nice prime brisket from Lobels of NY. Spendy but the shipping was about 20 hrs door to door (2/3 of the way across the US!). Shipped trimmed and ready to cook, never frozen. Come spring or the next nice weekend that badboy is getting smoked!!
