• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

By popular demand I posted a sequence of photos from yesterday's cooking of the 14 pound brisket. The photos are in the photos section under the Fruits of Our Labor fiolder and start with the full packer brisket from Excel packing in the cryovac. Enjoy. Let me know if you have any questions.

that was AWESOME TK! just one question...if it took you 11.5 to cook it, another 3 in the cooler, let's say another .5 to cut it up and present it...how in the world could you hold that camera steady after drinking regular Buds for THAT long!!??

all kidding aside, what time did you put that bad boy on? it is one beautiful brisket. thanks for taking the time.

ps, stuck the pics in an Album in fruits of our labor, called TK's perfect brisket. Hope ya dont mind, but didnt want it them gettin mixed up with other stuff.

First - I have to thank everyone on the compliments. I fired up the 'dera at about 3:40AM (Phil's bedtime) after 3 hours of a drunken sleep and a near disaster (back wheel fell off while positioning the cooker on the driveway). Brisket went on at 4:25am. I started into the Bud around 2:00PM so was still pretty steady.
 
Phil, Brian, or Bill - two items:

1. The photo on page 1 of the folder labeled "Bad Ass Brisket" needs to come out and placed with the other fruits of labor photos. That's a mighty fine looking flat being sliced, but it's someone else's.

2. Can you rearrange the photos in numeric sequence so that it shows the story start to finish?

Beautiful moist brisket TK! I used the DP marinade this weekend on ours. Turned out real tasty. Used Diet Dr Pepper though. Kind of an Atkins thing :)

ok, i moved the badd ass and sorted the pics.

Brian, you could've done it, i'll show ya how when we talk.

Be carefull substituting diet soda for "the real thing" sometimes the artificial sweetners will be get nasty when cooked. Sounds like you did ok and if it works with Diet Dr. P then go for it.

I still want to try "beer can" chicken with ginger ale -- ginger and poultry usually make a good combination -- oh well, so many recipes, so little time :D

I know what you are talking about. I think DP uses Splenda which is ok to heat. Others do get bitter though. It did turn out ok, but I may try the regular cherry flavored. I don't think there would be that much sugar content in the brisket when all is said and done. The DP added a great flavor to the ribs too. Or was it the SF in the DP? :D

Have you tried beer can chicken with beer and garlic? Heard that is pretty good.

I've done beer can chicken with beer, garlic, and I forget what else I put in the can. I'd seasoned the bird inside and out with seasoned salt -- didn't have my SF from Bill at the time :D
 
but I may try the regular cherry flavored.
I bought this by accident, and didn't want to go back to the store. It tastes pretty similar to regualr DP to me. Everbody seemed to like the Brisket done with it, so I guess it works ok.
 
Some of the guys use cherry juice in their mops -- so I can't see where Cherry DP would be that far afield.
