• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

OK, as some of the Brethren at Grill Kings know, I found out that the one piece of eqiupment that I did not have was my WSM Water Pans. Stupid me put them in a garbage bag after the last cook to soak and clean and ended up throwing both of them out later in the week as I thought it was just a bag of garbage. ( I know, an idiot !!!!)

So I showed up to the contest without them without knowing until I set up to cook the Butts & Briskets. Luckily both Poobah and Sledneck came to the rescue both had an extra pan and we avoided having to modify an aluminum cooking pan in each. (Thanks again guys !!!)

Anyway, I liked the Brinkmann pan that Poobah let me borrow and I think Sledneck recommended months ago. It is a deeper pan to hold more water.

So, I went to the Brinkmann site and they sell both a water pan and a charcoal pan. One costs a $1 more than the other but they look identical.
The Virtual Weber bulletin board info specifically pecifically mentions the Charcoal Pan and corresponding part #, not the water Pan #.

I Just want to confirm that the info on the Virtual Weber board is correct. that the Brinkmann Charcoal Pan is what I want.

Does anyone know for sure if the Charcoal Pan is what I want as a replacement to fit as a Water pan ?

yup.. charcoal pan.. but damn that water pan looks like the same thing.

I have a brinkman water pan and it is smaller so the tabs that hold the pan have to be extended in order to use it

This is too funny (or not). Vinny busted his farking arse at the bash then had a few 'mishaps' at the comp. Big salute to one hell of a trooper.

Thanks to the Virtual Weber board the first thing I ordered when I bought my WSM was the Brinkmann charcoal pan to replace the Weber water pan.

I picked up a clay flower pot base that just barely fits inside the stock water pan. I use the double layered heat sink with no water and I really like the way it works much better than using water. I think it uses less fuel than using water in the pan, and it holds the temps very stable, with no potential spike in temp when water is gone.

MadCity Q .... that's (clay pot base) a neat thought for my BGE ... in place of / or in addition to assorted other pans. Very consistent with the 'ceramic' cooker and its affinity for 'high thermal mass' low and slow cook components.

Thanks!

Vin,

Ya might want to buy an extra one as u never know when the garbage man will strike again.

Which one of those will work in the Bandera? The one that is in there now is 14 inches crom outside lip to outside lip.

Thanks everyone....especially Ron... he saved me a few bucks so I ended up getting an extra two pans...just in case the garbage man strikes again...

Steve - I don't know the measurements of the pan....but when I get it I can measure it for you.

Whoops, My bad. I was too quick on trigger. You're right: $4 for charcoal pan, $4.99 for water pan.

I stand corrected. Thank you sir, may I have another!

Brauma is a stickler! Brauma is a stickler! Neeter neeter neeter! :-D

Actually, Brauma is a premature stickler...

Smoker, I read somewhere that the Brinkman charcoal pan is 15 1/2 inches. The water pan is smaller. It sounds like Sledneck might have a water pan. Maybe he can measure it.

Water pan is 13-1/2''

Sorry for the premature stickling. You cant be Mr Perfect all the time...:-P
