• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I won this on Weber site. They sent me an email for contest and won. Now the Kettle will be put to use with the most expensive meat it ever seen or possibly will see since I haven't been able to afford beef in about a year or two with the exception of a ribeye that is reduced in price since I live on fixed income from disability. It is only wife and I so only problem is so to much for us to cook at once since it is 6 lbs. Will look how it comes and probably cut into smaller weight for several meals. I usually only cook 2 lb pork roast for the two of us as a reference. Good problem to have.

Congratulations! You could just cut it into steaks. Always good and you can cook them as you need them.

Lets see...... I will be in Slidell in about 10 days.....!!

Seriously though, you can cut to desired thickness for you and the wife and freeze until needed. I would vacuum seal them if you have one on hand. If not, then wrap in saran wrap as air tight as you can, and then seal in a zip lock bag. Should be good for a month or two without any freezer burn. Congratulations on the win!

Will probably get killed for this, but if you want Prime Rib, you could cook the entire roast to a nice rare/midrare and enjoy a couple of slices for dinner. Afterwards, slice the rest into "dinner sized" portions, vac pack individually if you can and freeze them. As retiredtrucker said, if you don't have a vac sealer, go with plastic wrap and ziplocks.

Next time you want PR for dinner, remove however many slices you need and defrost in the bags. To bring to temp, either drop bags in warm/hot (NOT boiling) water or remove from bags and bring up to temp in the oven on it's absolute lowest setting.

Prime Rib Roast

I won a Prime Rib Boneless Roast from Weber. I couldn't find original post and this is a follow up. I cut roast to thick Steaks. Cooked over coals with lid on for 5 minutes on each side. Tender and Juicy is all I can say. Couldn't get pictures of final look with 2 dogs and wife licking there lips. LOL

The only thing better than a grilled ribeye is a free grilled ribeye.

I merged the two threads so everything is in one place.
