• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Mrs Half Dog returned from Costco with a package that has 2 boneless chuck roasts. It looks like each roast weighs a little over 3 pounds and I see several websites that have directions on how to cook the roast on the grill. I’ve had too many bad experiences with website recipes so I wanted to ask y’all.
Do boneless chuck roasts cook well on a grill? If so, can you give advice on how to cook one? I’m limited to using a Pit Boss pellet grill.

Thanks in advance for your time and effort.

I( cook indirect on my Large BGE at around 250*. When the meat hits around 265 I will put it in a foill pan raised on foill balls, added onions, Green peppers, garlic and beer. Steam it til tender and shred the beef. Reduce the liquid and have great shredded beef sandwiches

I am a sucker for Mississippi pot roast. I've been doing them since way before it became saturated. I have found that the smoker just adds to it. I would suggest not stirring until complete to keep from too much smoke.

I smoked one last week, used a temp probe to "pin it together". It was probe tender about IT 185-190, had great smoked beef flavor, but was...pot roast. I've used it chopped in bbq sandwich, and also breakfast sandwich, etc. Anywhere you might use chopped brisket. Would do it again.

I see where people make the Mississippi roast in a crockpot. Can you share what you do to cook it on the grill?

My favorite use of those is in beef stew with potatoes and carrots. Many recipes produce a bland gray goo with tasteless veggies and beef chunks swimming around in it. Not this one.

I follow Malcom's recipe. We seem to like it.
Not your Momma’s Pot Roast Recipe

Greg

Cook it to 165 it then braise it on the grill at 225 till 190. Use it like a regukar beef roast ...

Forgive if I've I missed something.. Wolfe Pit Pepper Stout Beef? Love a duck. That's in my top three!

Pepper Stout Beef brings back memories. When I started in bbq around 2011 that was all the rage on this site and others.

On that thought, you can use chuck for pulled beef but it usually needs a sauce as it comes out leaner than pulled pork.
