• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Blame jpw23...this is his fault.

Howdy,
I'm Badger...thats what everyone calls me in real life anyway. I'm a writer, which pays the bills, and own a coffee shop/coffee roasting company which takes up any money after the bills and then some.

the way I got started smoking dead animal tissue:

Theres a long story behind it but the short of it is that I helped move out a young lady who's husband had beaten her and he had a brinkman R2D2 lookin smoker that she gave to me in gratitude. Texas is a community property state after all. The long version explains why he came home to completely empty trailer and other unpleasentness....

So anyway, I experimented with that one, and then a couple of different wood smokers...until I found the love of my life. the mastbuilt electric smokehouse. I could load it up for the night, go to bed and in the morning....ok the afternoon, i'm kind of a nightowl...it would still be the same temperature. Until that day it turned into a giant flaming ball of death and melted the siding off of my house.

But my friends on the other BBS where I hang out got tired of me mourning the loss of my smoker so they chipped in and got me another one...and this time I got one of those wireless thermometers that you set an alarm so that if it goes over like 1000 degrees it beeps and wakes me up to grab the fire extinguisher. Here's hoping.

For grilling I have a an older BBQ galore four burner propane. I bought that about a decade or so ago when i found out my inlaws were going to be living with us. It had some kind of rediculous BTU rating on...something like 75000 or so....they dont make it anymore, and it tends to warp and distort if you leave the lid closed whiles its cranked up to a spinal tap 11. does a damn fine steak...if your careful and dont burn down things with it.

Anyway, thats about it...I'm a poseur compared to most of you guys, but I like to make que, eat que, and learn about que.
