• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

A simple Monday morning breakfast. Day old Challah from the market which I cut into fairly thick slices. My go to recipe for French Toast:

Egg
Milk
Cinnamon
Brown Sugar
Vanilla

Nothing out of the ordinary, but it works for me. The Blackstone is ready to go, the Challah has soaked for a short period of time, and it's time to get the toast on the griddle. The Blackstone advantage obviously, is to get them all on the griddle at once so neither of us has to wait.

The Mrs and I both like it darker than that, but I forgot to take pics as I was taking the toast off.

Breakfast is ready! A few breakfast sausages and NH Maple Syrup -

No need to go out for breakfast at this house! :)

Why you have the grease trap blocked?
That's my woodworking replication of the Blackstone sliding metal trap blocker which only comes as part of a ridiculously expensive kit. Its purpose is to prevent small pieces of food from falling down the grease trap (which I've done). My piece of scrap wood has magnets embedded in it so it stays in place. I can slide it away from the trap should I need to push grease, whatever into the grease tray.

Great breakfast Dom! Thanks for posting. Haven't seen any of your posts in a while.

Is that peanut butter between the slices in that 2nd photo?

That's just the top of the bottom slice being quite dark.
What does NH syrup go for now? Camped many times in nearby Ontario. Farm on the way to the park had a little store behind the house. Sold maple by the gallon for $45US, but that was 20 years ago. Stuff was great.

I'd hit that hard. Nicely done Dom. I don't do breakfast much and when I do it usually french toast of waffles.

I usually pick up a local brand at Market Basket - Ben's Maple Syrup out of Temple NH. A pint is around $13, but it depends on grade and what it's packaged in (glass bottle, plastic jug, etc.). Let's see, a gallon of their Grade A Dark is $75. They have a website (bensmaplesyrup.com).

If we're up in NH or Vermont for a day trip, we'll usually stop at any of the roadside stands and make a purchase, along with maple candies, cookies, etc. (I'm talking myself into a road trip!) The grandkids won't touch the stuff, they're into Log Cabin or whatever. I hate buying that stuff, almost want to hide my identity in the checkout line.

Not that it would be economical as kids tend to use a lot of syrup but have you ever tried putting the real stuff in the Log Cabin bottle to see if they notice? ;)
