» Blue Smoke, 116 E. 27th St., New York, N.Y.; 212.447.7733
(Good restaurant, good brisket and pulled pork - but best in the country?)

» Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, 246 W. Willow St., Syracuse, N.Y.; 315.476.4937
(Never been to the one in Syracuse, but the one in Harlem sucks dino-eggs!)

» Bullock’s Bar B Cue, 3330 Quebec Dr., Durham, N.C.; 919.383.3211

» Angelo’s, 2533 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas; 817.332.0357

What say the Brethren?

It's kind of like football...on any given day.....

Well . . . . . . hmmmmmmmmm . . . . .let's see . . . . . I can only speak about Arthur Bryant's. You should definitely go to the original location if you're here in town. However, it's probably not the BEST commercial barbecue in Kansas City, let alone the country.

I think these type of articles are written based on other similar, older articles. I can't imagine actually trying to eat at every place recommended and compiling a current list of the best barbecue in the country. So, the same places just continue to be recognized. Just my opinion of course . . .

Bobby Flay loves Blue Smoke, so it MUST be good.

What is PASTE magazine? Maybe they garner their taste in food by eating paste. I think they should stick to whatthey know about. I may be biased, but B/S and Dino aren't in the top 10. I'm not sure if there is any bbq joint in NYS that would rate in that group.

I've heard good things about Dinosaur in Syracuse, but although I have flown into Syracuse many times, I have never been there despite constant nagging from people telling me to try it. Anyway, this past December I served what I believe was some of my best BBs to folks in Bakersfield who have visited Dinosaur a few times. I was told by each that my BBS rivaled or bettered Dinosaur's. So now I wonder if mine and their's (the Syracuse joint) both suck dino eggs or if they are both good chit.

Well, there goes another potential sponsor.:wink:

The Dinosaur is Rochester is great!

Bullocks in Durham is very good. It is just off of the Duke Campus.

Kreuz in Lockhart is very good but I like Smitty's there better.

I'd say, that of the three I've eaten at, they are definitely in my top ten!

Never been to any of them. Thanks for the list. I'll save it to my Blackberry.

Beats the heck out of me. I too have never eaten at any of them. I may try Blue Smoke in NYC though.

No Oklahoma Joe's? Headed there in a couple of days. S

Only local spot we have is cald hickory BBQ. Pretty much sucks and the meat is always very dry. Seems to do a lot of business though. Claims to be KC style....hope OK Joes is better. Scott

Blue Smoke is defintely worth a visit. It's the only NYC BBQ place that is a true NYC take on a BBQ restaurant. Try it out and you'll see what I mean.

Been to Bullock’s when I lived and worked in Durham. It deserves to be in the top 10, but I liked Lexington BBQ's better. I go there everytime I visit my sister and her husband. They know how to do it right down there. But for my money, the best resturant BBQ in North Carolina is at Wilbur's in Goldsboro, NC.

I have eaten at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, 246 W. Willow St., Syracuse, N.Y. I had lunch and all in all the BQ was ok I would go back (the help were bikers with interesting tattoos and most would rate cute and they smelled good (Ilike hickory)

Have only eaten at Rendezvous once (first trip to Memphis 15 years ago) and it was good but i like Hays Smokehouse in Lexington or Joyner's BBQ in Jack's Creek lots better (west TN whole hog Que).

Hoping to hit the Lockhart establishments this weekend. Had sausage from Kruez's but haven't eaten there. Probably favorite Central TX Que joint is Louis Mueller's in Taylor, followed by Cooper's in Llano.

Haven't been to Angelo's in Cowtown in several years but is my personal favorite for DFW metromess joints. Second favorite is Mesquite BBQ in downtown Mesquite.

Went to Dreamland Bar-B-Que in Birmingham a couple of years ago. It's on my top ten list.

Also like McClard's in Hot Springs, AR.

Blue Smoke is pretty good. Their sampler - KC, Memphis and Texas syle combo - ought to make you happy. Extensive burbon selection and a Jazz club downstairs (The Jazz Standard). My kids love it because they bring out an unbaked cooke with the menus, let them decorate the top, then they bake it and bring it out for their dessert!

Andy

I love Rendezvous and would go there at least twice a month when I lived in Memphis. They are the ones that turned me on to dry ribs.
