• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

After years of procrastination I finally got the Hobart 1612 restored and up and running. Great machine. It is an early one from the beginning of the 1960s. The name plate has "patent applied for" on it.
It was totally trashed. It had been in a fire and sat for many years before I salvaged it from a friends estate sale. It had the infamous oil leak. The knobs, handles and power cord were melted. Stickers burned off. Dried meat crud and 140 weight oil all over.
I dismantled it 10 years ago and was overwhelmed by the amount of problems so I let it sit. Brethren Eddie6 was over a couple of months ago and volunteered to clean the motor and rewire it. I cleaned up the rest got a bunch of new parts and here you go.
We christened it with Dr. BBQ's Italian Beef recipe. It sliced paper thin. Success!
Thanks for looking.

CONGRATS!! Sweet slicer. I'd love to have one myself. Great job. Looks like it was never damaged.

I really admire the resurrection of a fine old piece of machinery be it an old tractor or a deli slicer. Good on you.

You did a fabulous job restoring it. It would even look great on my kitchen counter

Great job! It must be a heckuva feeling to accomplish turning that into a classic!

Very nice. I've got a Berkel automatic slicer that I picked up off of CL, all it needed was the drive belt.

Good to see something restored and put back to use instead of just sent to the landfill.

It's hard to beat the quality of older Hobart equipment. Quality all the way. Use it in good health
