• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Has anyone ever experimented with introducing a hint of tobacco flavor to smoked meat? I have a co-worker asking and it never occured to me to match the two.

YUK  Tobacco and food don't mix, actually tobacco don't go good with anything.Of course i quit smoking tobacco forty years ago and started smoking meat about four years ago and it goes with everything ( It's a little harder to keep lit.)

There are many recipes using tea to add smoke flavor - that would likely be a start - but again the question is why? Unless you and your co-worker work for a tobacco company?

If you want a buzz - try marinating in Dr Pepper or Jolt Cola

Sounds like a bad smoke mod. I'd use pine before tobacco

WAITTT A MINUTE. This is a fair question. Maybe a really good question. Tobacco is a leaf that people burn because they enjoy the smoke (that is before they suck their wallet into their crusty lungs, but I digress).

Let's think about this. Pipe tobacco uses sweetgum for the sweet smell as well as tobacco and orange and who knows what else.

I propose an experiment (but I won't do it cause I hate cigarette smoke)

The easiest way to find out if their is a good combo is to start with hamburgers in the smoker, and throw a pack of cigarettes taking care to rip the filters off or some pipe tobacco into the fire, spooning directly out of the can.

I suspect the results will be awful, but its probably worth the experiment. Who decided that Habanero's would taste good after they burnt the crap out of their mouth? Who figured out that cumin has a space on the spice rack?

BUT I would experiment with cheap hamburgers so you could throw them away once your curiosity is satisfied.

If this turns out really bad, (or good) post the exact recipe,
and I will post it as a new idea on another forum.

PM your address and I'll send you a can of Copenhagen to try. New meaning to 'just a pinch between your cheek and gum".....
