• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Michael wants Pizza for his 3rd birthday on Feb 4. So tonight we did a trial run. Today he made peanut butter cookies with mom and then pizzas with dad. He did so great! Audrey and I were recalling all of our found memories of helping moms and grandmas in the kitchen as kids. Cooking with kids is such a connecting thing.

Did a whole wheat pizza on the gas grill. Then two regular crust pizzas: one on smoker and one on gas grill.

And of course, you have to sneak a peperoni every now and then.

Our girls LOVE making pizzas. We'll have to make some night a pizza party for em.

I'm using a simple dough recipe from America's Test Kitchen Cookbook.

4 1/2 C Bread Flour (Suggest Bread Flour instead of AP, but AP would work)
1 3/4 C warm water
Package Instant Yeast
1 1/2 t salt
2 T Olive Oil

Worked okay on a hot pizza stone on both the grill and smoker. Of course the grill was better since I could get over 500 degrees. Smoker was only running 340 max tonight.

EDITED: Water Amount

Man that looks good. We make a homemade pizza about once a week ... but haven't tried it on the grill yet. Will have to give that a whirl.

Music! The little brother will be the football player. Little brother already can take down big brother. He sits on him and laughs while big brother can't get up. Seen it several times. Christian (little brother) is full force and naturally strong. He's gotta be a linebacker when he gets older.

OT __ music is an unmatched gift for young kids if they will accept it. I started in 3rd grade (piano) and it has been a solid companion for decades. Last few lessons (in San Diego) were with Howard Brubeck (Dave's older brother). Left me with some very powerful concepts. Great activity paired with Q !

Great Lookin Pics PlowBoy,You are Building Memories that will last a Lifetime...Great Job !!!

Good job, Dad!!

P.S. Could you check that water measurment in your recipe?
Is it really 1 - 2/4 cup (VS 1-1/2 cup)??

Grilled pizza is awesome. The way I make it can even be described as healthy. I use whole wheat flour and all sorst of veggies outta my garden starting with fresh tomato sauce. Good way to get kids to eat veggies (not to mention some adults I know who will be unmentioned).

To avoid burning the bottom of the crust on a real hot grill make it indirect with a peice of steel plate. I use stainless steel sheet Nondestructable.

I use pizza stones, but make sure they are hot when the pizza goes on. I warm the stone as the grill is getting hot. That's my technique anyway... it seems to cook the crust more evenly.

I tried a whole wheat crust and it was pretty heavy. I'm going to stick with the bread flour until I find a better whole wheat recipe.

What a great time. These are times that you will never forget.

We are planning on starting pizza night at our house to encourage the kiddos to cook. Their idea of cooking is 2-0-0 Start.
