The show put me to sleep.

It really was terrible. The editing was terrible. What story were they trying to tell? No continuity between segments. Back to the Food Network!!!!

I actually liked Modern Marvels. They made the distinction between BBQ and Grilling. They touched on most facets in a very short 60 minutes and was for the most part factual.

Fell asleep at the end, woke up an hour later. Strange urge to do some acid.:-?

I found various parts of the program interesting. Would have liked to have seen a little more on the guy cooking pigs under cardboard. Now thats bbq. I wish the media would stop focusing on the novelty stuff that Klose does and pay a little more attention to exceptionally well designed and finished pitts that he produces.

Modern Marvel says it all. Its what new or the processes of amking stull. It what I expeted for the channel good but nothing to write home about.

I couldn't agree more. I've seen the beer bottle smoker, the baby carriage smoker. You hardly get a glance at the "regular" stuff. All in all the show was ok in my opinion. On the other hand Klose recieved some great coverage. I know Dana at the factory was answering the phones at 6 am! So great for Dave. You can't buy advertising like that.

I recorded it and watched it with the wife this morning. It was OK. When they were showing Dave I had to stop the tape and increment it back to show her the smoker I want to own one day. She was kindof impressed when she recognized the WSM's there and realized I had a cooker that pros use in comps. She was even impressed with the fact that I got it for cheap(179 compared to 299). She's the kind of person that would spend 300 dollars on clothes(pretty much for the baby) but since she got them for 25%-75% off and clearence she says she save 600, instead of spent 300.

Am I the only brother interested in the guy queing pigs under cardboard on home made charcoal? For those of us defenders of purist bbq, this guy was the star of the show. That was freaking beautiful. A small bonfire for fuel, a couple of shovels, a couple of strong backsto work the shovels, some cinder blocks, what looked like square mesh reinforcement wire and cardboard. I am totally intriqued and plan on locating and visiting this mecca of bbq purism.
