First off, thanks goes to our Troops... without them... our way of life would only be a fantasy.

Last weekend, Oct. 14-15 cooking in Arlington, VA. The Third US Infantry Regiment; known as The Old Guard ... the men and women who stand watch at the Tomb of the Unknowns, who are the Honor Guard, The Drill Team, the Caisson, ... the ones who give the final respect of honor at Arlington National Cemetery... basically the best of the best. They spend several hours each day just prepping their uniforms daily; from ironing their uniforms to spending hours polishing their shoes on top of their daily responsibilities.

Secondly, thanks to Del (BBqforourtroups.com), Roy (Brethren brother Tarheel) for organizing the efforts, and Kingsford/KC Masterpiece for the financial backings to pull it off.

Will try to remember who was all there... but my mind was nothing but swiss cheese thru-out the event... there were 5 cooks (Slamdunkpro, Doc Crawford, LCBateman, Richard Potts, and myself) and about a dozen or so folks who volunteered to pull and serve the BBQ (Mike Hicks, members from the Stoke & Smoke BBQ, Karen Morris, Kathleen Shanks,... then my mind goes a little fuzzy.

BTW; Thanx for the early wake-up call... a cannon shot that shook the grounds @ 6:00 AM

Now for the PRON!!

Fantastic all around! Many thanks to you, the crew, and the troops! :clap2:

Way to go and great pictures.

I remember being at Arilington for a changing of the guard awe inspiring. It was also interesting that when someone jumped the barrier where they stand guard even though the guard was walking the other direction that the guard spun about face and 'informed' in a urgent way that visitors were NOT allowed past the barrier. Never seen a housewife move so fast in my life. LOL

That's amazing! I am actually in the process of doing an interview with Del for Grilling.com and it could be fun to get the thoughts of a few of you folks like you, Lionel, and Slamdunkpro as to what the cause means to you and the experience etc? You all game?

Thank you for taking the time to do help with that cook, I am sure every single one of those guys enjoyed it!

For those that have not visited Arlington, the skill and precision those soldiers have is unreal. My facing movements will never be that good...

I was at Arlington when I was a freshman in high school. It is something I will never forget. All of those that have given their all for OUR country. The guards at the tomb were amazing. It was August in 90+ heat in full dress, and not missing a beat.

Thanks so much for what you've done. I'm really sorry I couldn't make it.
