I am looking at getting this smoker to add to the arsonal...Does anyone have some good pics of this unit (inside and out)? Any mods you have done? Any info on the unit will help.

I don't own that kinda offset but I do own one and the standard mods. such as heat shield, tuning plates and extend the stack to the cooking surface, and last but not least a fire basket for better burn, thats about all I can see, good luck and happy Qing

Bman, you can find mods right here on the site and you can Google up mods for any offset and they'll at least give you the right ideas. Check for New Braunfels Silver Smoker, Hondo, and Black Diamond pits for starters.

I'm pretty sure they come with the standard mods already, deflector, stack to grate etc. Single Fin just got one, he can set you straight.

I have this model, only a older version(3 yrs). I have seen the new ones and they have done the mods to them already. Here are the mods: 1) move temp guage to grate level 2) extended chimney down to grate level using flashing or flexible pipe 3' dia. 3) extend baffle from firebox to cooking chamber-you may want to do this to a new one. 4) charcoal basket made of corrugated steel from Home Depot 5) this is not a mod just a suggestion-use 3 half pans with water in them under your cooking grates to catch drippings-sure makes an easier clean up.
