Bands

Upgrading the bands/hinge on my unknown kamado grill(think it's a grill dome). 18" grate so I went with a large BGE band/hinge kit. Fits almost perfect, but may need something to widen the bite slightly to securely tighten the bands. Almost like it needs another band under. The gaps between the ears on each band is too close to properly tighten. Thought about bending the ears but would probably weaken.

Any ideas welcomed.

Can you weld?

If so cut a section out of the band and re-weld.

If not, sounds like you’re on the right track.

Thanks! Can weld. May go that route if I don't just cut the other band for a collar.

Took a inch off and it's perfect. Now for a new chimney cap and replacement bottom screen/vent. Probably gonna replace the springs since I dropped a inch on each band.
