I stopped by a local apple ochard over the weekend, and they carry a bunch of local products. I saw this one...

I decided to try it. It was very simple to make. Saute some onions, add the meat and brown, add the seasoning packet and beans (optional) and then add water. Stick it in the oven at 350 for three hours. Here's what it looked like...

It tasted pretty good, especially for how easy it was to make. Its not as good as scratch chili, but it would do in a pinch.

About thirty minutes beefore it is done add a couple of boxes of Jiffy Corn Bread mixed up. Pour on top and pull out when corn bread is finished. Then it will be knock your dick in the dirt good.

Oooo... that does sound good! I only tasted it on Sunday when I baked it. We're having it for dinner tonight. Do you think it would be OK if I heated the chili in the oven and then threw on the Jiffy?

Nice dancing chicken, BTW... :-D

Yes I do. Have you seen the chicken drop pellets yet ?

is that a bean I see in there? (ducking.. here comes the debate  )....

I've baked chile before. .actually almost every time i make it in the summer its "baked" in the smoker. usually in the dutch oven... A while with the top off to take on the smoke, then once its done, it gets covered and sits in there for a few hours so the chunks tenderize.

Brian.. RE: the Cornbread trick.. Just pour the mix on top? or make it a batter first and spread it on top?

Yep - bean soup.

At least it's salsa-free.

Agreed, there is a name for it but damned if I know. First had it on a deer lease in East Texas they called it chili casserole.

Yeah... Sigh... My wife and daughter like beans in their chili, so I gave in. Of course, they also like catsup on their hot dogs...

Brian... I've been watching your chicken for a half hour and I haven't seen him drop pellets... Should I keep watching?

Isn't that something like a Tamale Pie?

So what's 'Special chilli powder' !!!!

That's code for "I'm not giving you the list of ingredients so you can't copy it"!

The chili was pretty good. We didn't add the cornbread on the top but I'll try that another time.
