• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Looking at the other thread on Side dishes it got me thinking about my side dishes I do. I love doing side dishes when they are side dishes I like to do. Smoked Mac n Cheese, corn bread, etc.

But I am not a huge fan of Cole Slaw or Baked Beans. I've put together recipes that are not just the can of beans and or a pan of coleslaw. The problem is that I don't even like to eat Cole slaw and I eat less than 3 spoonfulls of baked beans a year if I can help it.

How do you guys get around not doing foods you don't like? And how do you get around not serving food you don't like to cook?

I hate pork steaks

but sold 400 of them this weekend at a $3.00 profit each. I'd pretty much cook dog sh*t if it paid enough.

Find the right supplier and you can get some darn good ready made products for sides. Find out if there is a sysco rep in your area. They have some excellent stuff. Our rep bends over backwards for us including samples and always checking in with us.

Now that you are doing business you need to hook up with one of these suppliers for all of your stuff. You will find stuff either cheaper, or the same cost and better, but save money and time by having it delivered.

Do you know anyone that has a restaurant in the area? They should be able to hook you up with vendors

We buy our slaw

from Reesers through a local wholesaler. The Texas Poppy seed is fine, and costs about $.36 a serving.

Its not great but Sams Club has a decent cole slaw at a good price.Doctor up Bush's bean can be a hit. Add some of you favorite sauce, onions, garlic, peppers, meat and throw on the bottom of the smoker to catch the drippings.

For our "vending beans"

we use Allen Foods Baked Beans, add pulled pork, rub, onion powder and sauce. Uncovered in pit 3 or 4 hours, but best after about 6 hours.

Andy can't stand anything made with mayo.....so for cole slaw we use a friend of ours reciepe. It is a Sweet German Slaw. It is really awesome by itself and on top of a pork sandwich.

If you are interested just PM me.

Ok Highjack mod.

I'm from 'Bama and cole slaw is 99% of the time the mayo type. Always served on the side, never on a sandwich. However my travels with Uncle Sam got me exposed to the vinegar slaw the Carolinians put on their sandwiches. I love it! How do the rest of you feel about serving slaw on sandwiches?
