There's a few "trends" I've noticed in the "barbecue social media world" lately that drive me nuts, and that's one of them. The others are smashing a halved brisket down with your hands to show "da juice", using entirely too large of a knife such as a cleaver to trim uncooked meat or slice cooked meat, and scraping a knife across the "crust" of something to I guess show how hard it is?

The black gloves on a tattoo artist...I think that's where it was copied from. Next, you'll see full sleeve tattoos, black gloves, and a epic beard required in all brisket shots.

Nah, "Neck Beard" is another name for an overweight unhygienic geek. What you're describing is a "Hipster".

Neck Beards be like -
