• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Anyone used this aftermarket sear burner?

I have a similar one.. 15K btu side burner for my DCS. Handy to have for saute' while your making the steaks or chops.

Why is it called a SEAR burner? Isnt it just a plain gas burner for pots/pans? Or is it something different under the hood? They dont show it opened.

No matter what.... it will be good for lighting chimneys.

I'm guessing this is different than the standard outboard burner for pots and pans? Does it have a grill above it for putting the meat on?

I do recommend the searing burners for doing meat on the gasser, though not sure how this seperate module would work. It DOES seem pricey, you can buy an entire grill for around double that.

It's an infrared ceramic burner. Very hot!

Thats what I like about it. It's 14000 BTU in a small package. Great for that initial searing of a steak or chicken. I've seen them in BBQ's before but I've never used one

Just be careful about dealing with Homedepot.com. If you can, buy it from a local home depot if you decide to buy.
