• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. I have one in the Recipe section but I wanted to know if anyone has tried another or different 2 or 3 day Steak marinade??

Any recommendations in the recipe section?

Sauces are good but the marinades are realllly good, especially a 2 day soaker.

Thanks.

EZ marinade

For steaks like porterhouse or rib eye, we use a marinade that was used in a restaurant here - 1/2 cup italian salad dressing, 1/2 cup margarita mix, tsp crushed garlic, 2 tbsp montreal steak seasoning. Mix them alltogether in a large ziploc and add the steaks - Enough for 2 or 3 steaks depending on size. Turn bag over every 8 hours or so - Let marinate for up to 2 days.

That sounds great! I think that I'll give this one a try in the next couple of weeks:biggrin: .

Personally, if I'm spending the cash on a really top shelf porterhouse or filet or ribeye , I'd prefer to hold off on the marinade and season lightly with a high quality salt, fresh ground pepper and maybe some butter, olive oil and light garlic...

If I marinade a steak or a large prime rib, it's usually only for an hour or two... I still like the flavor of beef coming through the marinade.

Ditto. On the good stuff I think simpler is better. A good rub that sits for 30 minutes is fine. For sirloins, flank, london broil, etc. I might marinade or use more spices.

I use the equal amounts of onion and garlic powder. Then I add a little salt and pepper into a ziplock bag. Add a can of coke and shake. Then I add the steaks. I dont marinade for more than 6 hrs max.

Good Eats say my guest.

Thanks to all!!!!!!

Awesome !!!!!!

Man, you guys know your steak.

I'm gonna try them all but I gotta try C Rocke's.

My whole life my dad liked just the plain rib eye or Porter on the BBQ...I hated it! lol It wasn't until years later that I had a MARINATED steak out at J&R's steakhouse up here on the island. It was awesome...and it was only a 12 oz'er. lol

From that moment on my bro gave me the Fast and Easy Steak Marinade I put in the recipe section.

I thought," I gotta find out what I could add to his recipe or find another 2 or 3 day soaker." C Rocke's got a good one from Cali.

I gotta have it marinated, some guys like the true dry rub or very little messin with taste. Ever since J&R's I been trying to find the awesome 3 day soakfest!..lol

Thanks.

If yer gonna soak it you could probly use a cheaper cut, if your usen a quality cut, you owe to the dead cow and give it the SnP, but i also put a sour cream, cream cheese and blue cheese schmeer on a stake at times

Try dunking the steaks for an hour or two in a Worcestershire sauce, Lemon Juice and Crushed Garlic before grilling.

Hahahhaaaaaa. You guys have a good point. lol

Imagine buying a Fliet Mignon and marinating it for 2 days! lmao Now thats just sacralidge!! lol

I was going to try that back in the day! Then I just remember people wrapping bacon around it and grilling or broiling it.

Yea, I get the small cuts of Steak thats not too tough and not really great, somewhere in between. I remember flank steaks in a pan as a kid and we all sat there and said, " Damn....this one musta ran for days before they killed em'!" lol

Some of those think flank steaks are rubbery as hell! Those need a marinade! I use small Porter cuts or 12 oz'ers.

I'll try a nice dry rub too, always wanted to try that on a Porter on the grill.

More

Squire,

For flank or carne asada, we us this one and marinate for at least 24 hours...

1 cup pineapple juice
1 cup Yoshida's (or soy sauce)
Tbsp crushed garlic
Tsp powdered ginger
Tbsp olive oil
Tbsp reb wine vinegar
black pepper

Another great 2 or 3 day marinade I use is catalina dressing, with added granulated garlic. Pierce the steak well and let sit in the fridge covered.

Try letting the steaks marinade in good old Jack daniels for an hour. Season with kosher salt and black pepper before throwing them on the grill.
