• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Yeah, OK, I posted in the wrong forum to start with. Who reads directions, anyway? :D

Well, I'm originally from Portland, Oregon, and I'm retired USAF living in Choctaw, Oklahoma. Choctaw's a small community attached by the hip to Oklahoma City's east side. We've got hills and trees and such, and I've got an acre of land to spread my smoke over. I just wish I had some hickories...!

I just bought my Bandera Saturday because I "had" to cook more than my Silver Smoker would handle. The wife was a bit tight about buying "another smoker" at first, but she ended up finding the unit for $75 less than I did. IT'S A SIGN!!

To say I look forward to the upcoming reading and posting here is an extreme understatement. Mods, recipes, experience...mmm. I'm a happy camper.

Talk to you later!

Arlin

Welcome Arlin.

Update the avatar in Profiles, and we'll see if we can figure a way to shrink it.

Thats the hog we're playing with putting on T Shirts and such.

Welcome

Hey there Arlin!

Welcome aboard. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the comeraderie the bretheren have to offer, not to mention the combined experience and advice.

Being a relative newbie to doing my own smoking, I find the information here "can't do without".

I welcome your brotherhood and personal experience.

You'll like it here. All the guys here are major jackasses...er.. I mean they're great! Have fun!

Greetings from another USAF deferred compensation recipient :D

Read the archives and try to match personalities (I dare ya!)

Glad things are working out with another smoker in the house!

Welcome Arlin. If you need to know something ask and you will be answered or pointed in the right direction.

Arlin, Did 4 yrs active duty and 4 reserve, always good to meet someone who knows 35-10 isn't a football score! Great guys, great advice and assistance. Welcome Brother.

Arlin, welcome from another USAF deferred compensation recipient. kcquer, you are really dating yourself. It hasn't been 35-10 for many years...those were the good ole days.

Wow, I'm susprised at all the responses in less than a day! You guys are either really friendly or bored to TEARS! <grin>

This feels like home already. And 35-10...wow. That takes me back. I work with a bunch of retired Zoomies and we can still say things like "AUTOVON" and "firewall nines" without the younger crowd rolling their eyes. <wink>

As far as Qin' goes, I've learned a lot over the last two years and I know I'll learn a ton more. MUST. READ. RECIPES.

See ya!

Not sure about the friendly part but we do like to jaw jack. Welcome to the group and jump on in.

Welcome Arlin. This group is the best interactive cookbook you will ever see. We have a wide range of personalities here and even a few pranksters (i.e. Sparticus).

Yes, we yak - a lot.

But unlike most forums: most of these posts actually get read!!

We make a valiant effort to give real answers along with the BS - a man there is a LOT of BS! :D

Welcome and enjoy this bunch of miscreants!

Anybody else remember 1505s?

BS, pranks, and miscreants (oh my)? I AM at home.

You've been warned! <grin>

1505's!! They phased out the khakis the year I came in. I never got to wear 'em or even SEE 'em. Too bad. I always hoped they would bring them back before I finished out my career, but they didn't.

Well, yeah!

Yea, I remember 1505s. I was issued them in November of 71 along with fatigues. Anyone remember not being allowed to wear fatigues to public places off base?
StL Mike

It's kinda sorta the same way with BDU's now, although in a military town like OKC nobody cares.

Remember those high-visibility patches and blue and white name tapes? Short sleeved cotton fatigues with creases like razors?

Ahh, the good old days. <sucks his gums>
