Another Low Temp Question

I think you're right - I don't think the grate I fabricated sits any lower than the old one that crapped out on me. I don't think the problem is with the size of the damper either since I was able to get to temp before the modifications. Thanks

In your OP you said that the fire grate positioning gave 4" of clearance, that sounds pretty good to me. I think that just loosing the basket and burning wood instead of charcoal will make all the difference.
With wood you'll really be able to open the intake up and let the pit breathe!:wink:
