anhydrous ammonia tanks

Are anhydrous ammonia tanks safe to convert to smoker? I thought I read articles about farmers and co-ops getting this stuff stolen by meth cookers.

Even if one wanted to burn a tank clean, I don't think I'd want any part of it.

Iused to work with anhydrous years ago. I would rather build a pit out of an anhydrous tank than an LP tank.
Anhydrous is dangerous only in the sense that it attaches itself to water very quickly, and exposure to it results in burns. Obviously it's an inhalation danger as well. (reading link now.......)
I would think a well ventilated tank would pose little hazard.

Yeah I don't know why a anhydrous tank wouldn't work for a smoker. Like Harbormaster said Anhydrous NH3 has a great affinity for water so it should be easy to flush out a tank.

That's correct unfortunately. The drug Task Force around here even has "dummy tanks" that they pull into a field and set up a sting when they have leads.

I never have figured out how a person would think "Hmm, if I take some Sudafed and Duracell batteries and soak them in anhydrous ammonia (or what ever they do) I could make something to get me high":roll:

Why would it even occur to a person?:roll:

Because humans are pleasure seeking animals...Sex feels good so we will do it more often & keep propegating the race. Eating is pleasurable, if it wasn't we'd starve. And we need something to do when we're not eating or bumping uglies, hence alcohol & drugs. This is no different than the first Sumerian that stumbled upon and drank that first beer 10,000 - 15,000 years ago.
