• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Some of you may remember THIS thread, and the fact that I had recently sold my 3 year old MAK 1 Star, and had been deliberating on what to replace it with.

Considered a YS640 w/comp cart, but while I really liked it, it didn't fit the space I was trying to fill. Too big, and I already have the BW Party G2 for the larger cooks.

Looked at Blaz'n Grillworks offerings, and while they have a few nice features, it just didn't come together.

So back to MAK, and the new 1 Star. It's bigger than the previous years 1 Star, better finish, taller, best ignition on the market, and customer service that is second to none. I'm really looking forward to getting a pellet cooker back into the mix.

congrats on the MAK, I really like the YS640 but have not puled the trigger because of space limitations

If you're limited on space, the right-side shelf on both the YS480 and YS640 is easily removable.
The YS480 is 53" with side shelf (~41" without the right shelf)
The YS640 is 61" with side shelf (~49 without the right shelf)

It's not really the fact that I don't have the space, more of an issue with just too much cooking area for what I use my pellet grill for. I looked at them, and just couldn't see myself using nearly enough space on the 640 to justify the purchase.

Congrats on the upgrade

Thanks, Bob.

Congrats Tim.

Thank you, Kevin.

Great to hear, ... just don't post any pictures. :thumb:

Oh, I'll be sure to post some just for you. :biggrin1:

Just looked at the MAK 1 Star web site... Sweeeeeet

I have been researching pellet grills for my BIL as he like the idea of my stick burner but has no desire to tend the fire.

MAK is by no means the cheapest, but they are definitely top quality.

i ordered a 640 from all things bbq about 8 weeks ago.
it's shipping this week i was told.
reading this got me all excited to try a pellet smoker out.
never used one but i should be smokin on one next week. :thumb:

I think you'll like it, very convenient for those times you're feeling a bit lazy.
