• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

I started adding crushed pecan shells to my pellets a few weeks ago and it works well. The smell from the hichory pellets mixed with the pecan shells is unbelievable. The flavor is also great too.

Cooked some babybacks and a meatloaf.

The color and extra flavor that comes from the pecan shells is very good.

The question is how easy is it to get that much pecan shells? probably gotta get a lot of pecans! Great Idea!!!

We have lots and lots of pecan trees in my area. Also have several places that you can take your pecans to and they shell them for you. They give away the shells.

Damn, that sounds great! We have a bunch of pecan orchards and processors up around Tallahassee and Thomasville; hmmm, how do you build a pellet cooker?

What are you cooking on? Not seeing anything in your list that uses pellets (tough I just remembered that I think some of the gravity feed ones do so it's probably the stumps clone). Does that use an auger or is it just gravity?

Nice thinking!

If I just lived in GA

That all looks fantastic! I used to work in the field for an HVAC company. I went to a pecan factory here on a service call and asked the guy what they do with all the shells as there were literally train cars full of them. He said they sell them to Charcoal factories for making brickets. Makes sense to me.
