• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Just sent my deposit to Tyler for a 24x65 Modified Cabinet Trailer model. Pretty sure when I looked at the website last week they were taking orders for delivery in January. Today it says March. Hopefully it doesn't slip too much more before he gets my deposit.

I did ask for a rotated firebox. Any other options I should consider?

Waiting impatiently,

Mike

an extra rack in the cook chamber is cheap insurance for that bigger than expected cook and the ss table makes cleanup a breeze. congrats on the new spring cooker!

Thanks for the tips, I will add an extra rack in the cook chamber. SS shelf in front of the cook chamber is included in the price.

I confirmed with Tyler today that he received my deposit and the wait officially begins. March can't get here fast enough.

Can't wait to to be cooking on a SF instead of just drooling over everyone else's.

I would make sure the shelf comes out over the wheel fender. I didn't do that and constantly nail my shin on the fender. Other then that enjoy, i know i LOVE mine.

These are a few things I wish I would have gotten:

-Searing Grate for Firebox
-Direct Grilling Grate for Cook Chamber
-Extra Rack in Cook Chamber as mentioned already

I'm sure way down the road I will be visiting them Shirley Boys again

Congrats on the new order and welcome to the Shirley Family! I spoke to Tyler and Paul last evening. I will be swinging by the shop on the 5th of July to just touch base about the website and their needs. Whatever is being built at this point, I will take pics and post here. Hopefully I will catch the some pics of a Brethren cooker being put together. I have a cooker on order but since I already have a Shirley, I have asked Paul and Tyler to put mine to the side to bump someone else by a week or so and worry about mine after the first of the year. I absolutely LOVE seeing someone take delivery of their new masterpiece. Once again, Congratulations and look foward to seeing your build!

Holy crap that's 9 months you will have your baby in the oven... Congrats

So after a lot of discussion with Tyler, I have decided to make some huge changes and this is what I have finalized on:

30”x80” trailer model
Insulated Firebox
Cabinet doors
Elevated cabinet w/ 3rd grate in chamber
6’ wide trailer
Rotated warmer
SS shelf in front of chamber and warmer
Dual burners w/ tank holder
Locking drawer
Wood Basket
Both dampers(FB to warmer, chamber to warmer)
Extra grate in warmer(3 total)
Remote grease drain
SS cool touch handles
Diamond plate fenders
Mounted spare
Hip roof on Warmer
Sausage hangers
SS griddle for dual burners
3 probe inserts (2 on chamber, 1 on warmer)
Davit for positioning grate w/hog to SS shelf
Storage under SS shelf and cook chamber w/ door
24”x60” SS shelf @ w/ vertical legs and grease trough

The 24x60 table in front of the cook chamber will be used for pulling whole hogs, etc.

Tyler tells me he expects the trailer to weigh in around 3000#. I'm trying to decide if I should go with tandem 3500# axles with brakes, or a single 5200# axle with brakes. Thoughts?

I really wanted to add sinks and a water heater similar to @thatgrimguy, but the wife is going to have a coronary on the cost as is.

Wow, can't wait to see that build! I always liked the idea of having tandem axles in the event of a tire blow out. Always made sure to upgrade boat trailers for that reason.

Costs more though up front and same when you need to replace tires

congrats and the time will go by quicker than you think and gives you time to really think about your options on it .

Thanks. I am definitely looking forward to taking delivery, Tyler tells me I am in the second spot in March, but he hopes to improve on that some.

I am definitely leaning towards dual axles, both for stability and blowouts as you mentioned.

Wow! That will be an awesome cooker! Welcome to the family!

Only thing I question is making the griddle out of stainless.. I have a shirley griddle made out of regular old carbon steel and I love it now that its seasoned. Its totally nonstick and I have had no problems with rust, even though it lives outside. What's the thought on going with stainless?

Are you going standard cabinet or straight back?
