• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Do they come with any type of case? I see that a vinyl pouch is available but I don't want to buy one if the unit already comes with something to store it in. Thanks.

Mine did not come with one. May not be a bad idea to pick one up.

Gonna pick one up myself, I think.

Anyone use one of these infrared thermometers on the thermoworks website? I've seen a few people use infrared to supposedly read pit temperatures.

I have one I got to check the IC temps when overclocking a CPU. I can get a fairly accurate grate temp, but beyond that it doesn't do me much good.

The IR need a surface to be acurate. As for a case I have a small torpedo level that came with a case it works great. Nive hard plastic. Keep your eyes open you may find something like it.

Sorry for the hijack, but it is about Thermapens.
When you insert it into meat especially something that has been injected, will liquids shoot out of the hole made by the Thermapen when you remove it?

The vinyl case from them will work - but, in my opion, it's not up to the Thermapen standard. I'd look for a cordura case like for cell phones, levels, etc.

The probe on the Thermapen is very thin. It will not cause you any grief from "leakage" - you don't have to stick the brisket or butt/shoulder/chicken/etc. very often -- you should know approximately when the meat is reaching a target time for a check -- so the number of sticks should be pretty minimal.

I agree with Chad, I bought the case as well and it works but I think you could find something alot better out there. I mainly use the case to store it in and have a place to put it at contests so I dont loose it.

I went ahead and ordered my T-pen but decided against the case. Thanks for the input.
