• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Ok, it's not technically a barbeque restaurant but their are pulled pork sandwiches on the menu (cooked by Willy B and rubbed with Blues Hog provided by Plowboy) and it is owned by my lil brother and fellow Brethren member, Wine & Swine.

After doing their first major catering gig last night for a rock group called Linkin Park, John and staff hosted their first meal at TASTE today. It was a small family gathering for my nephew's first communion, but based on the food and the reaction from attendees, they're off to a great start!

Here's some pics of the refurbished space. Food pics to follow. John will post the menu as soon as he gets some much needed sleep.

Thanks Clint...

John - I'm sure many of us are looking forward to getting down there. When you're ready and the kinks are worked out, give us the green light when it's OK to come on down for a meal...

And a catering gig for Linkin Park is a great way to start things off...

Nice bar set up too... Female bartenders ???

Oh Yeah... Think you and Willie B's are gonna need to get Brethren Meal cards printed for those pulled pork sandwiches ...

Maybe somehing corny like this ?

Grats on everything, we hope to someday have a restaurant of our own. may your endeavor las forever.

Here's a couple pix of food from today. I chose the pork chop which was insanely tasty (from a guy who eats way too much pork! )...

I apologize for the shot of some of the appetizers. I waited a bit too long to take a picture and most of the deviled eggs, wild mushroom grilled cheese sandwiches, and stuffed peppers had been devoured.

Other pix are of my pork with southern greens and grits, and my wife's red snapper with crab dumplings, plus a giant meat and cheese platter.

Congrats and best wishes to John on his new venture.

How about an address and phone number so plans for a meal can be made.

BTW, thanks for putting a photo of my all time favorite meat prosciutto which i love and cant have ash-hole

The place looks awesome and a little to fancy for brethren, does it have a table out back?

You know, I was just revisiting my dream of restaurant ownership the other day and I realized that I want an environment that is artistically stimulating and yet one where all people from all walks of life would feel comfortable and welcome.

I think this restaurant looks stimulating . . . but I don't think my mom would feel comfy there.

This must be the supreme challenge - to find that delicate balance where all are welcome and all feel catered to.

See you at the table out back!

Congrats! Looks like a nice place with some nice upscale food.

I understand what your saying but for those that don't know... John's restaurant is in Garden City, one of the most affluent areas in NY, if not the country... Median Incomes approaching $150K+, and median home values at $1M+...

John's got the perfect location on the main strip (Franklin Ave) to attact a crowd that is willing to spend cash for a great meal. This is just the type of place they want to eat it. If service and food are solid, it will be a huge success if word can spread to the GC community and neighboring areas.

And in the middle of it all is smokeindaeye..................................

Just a smokin' fool in a town of jewels.

Actually the balance in the restaurant is great for the area. They replaced tables with butcher blocks so there are no table clothes, and the food is familiar but with a slightly upscale twist.

Linkin Park. That's a great way to start things off.

Good luck to your brother and Brother Wine & Swine.
