• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Do they exist anymore? Being originally from NC (Go 'Heels!!) I just knew I could find a Butcher Shop ANYWHERE!! Wrong! Cannot find one. But I did stumble onto this. Whole Foods! I am not even sure if it is a national chain. But I went in there last week and they had a FULL meat counter! Not like in your regular market...but I mean FULL!! And really good fish counter as well. With some of the nicest looking salmon steaks I have seen in a while (bought a couple). But the kicker is that when I asked if the Brisket I saw behind the counter was all they got the dude behind the counter said "What are you looking for? Cause we get untrimmed Brisket everyday. You just call us in the morning and we can cut it up anyway you want it!!". (Clouds part, sun shines down on me and Angels sing). Now I will say that this place isn't inexpensive cause they do a lot of the Organic (IOW:They don't use pesticides and herbicides on their grass or feed, or growth hormones and antibiotics on their cattle) Beef. Aside from this place is Costco the only place people go for meat? A buddy of mine orders his straight from Texas (don't ask me how) cause he swears by it! Oh yeah, he is from Texas.

mofo,

You know I can't help w/ a butcher, but I will chime in with Smart and Final for a whole cryopac cuts, brisket, ribs, chucks, and on and on.

Mook,

When you get to NoCal Concord/Walnut Creek has two or three great butchers and a handful of so so ones. I put a call in to my mother for the names and address that is if you want them. I know that you will be an hour south of there but a good butt is hard to find.

TK, I'm generally with you on packers being the only way to go, but I wish I could find a place I could get points. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a trimmed flat around here, but the only points you can find are in a corned beef bag. :(

Whole Foods is a national chain, headquarted in Austin Tx. Your description sounds like little if anything has been lost in the translation out west. Big push on organic everything. You can find some interesting bottled sauces and salsas in there as well, and it is also about the only place in the state that I've been able to find blue corn tortillas.

For those that ever happen to visit Austin swing into the flagship store on Lamar. You will get a real taste of....Austin culture.
