We were lucky enough to participate in another great year at the Wild West BBQ Bash in Santa Maria, CA taking 6th overall. We helped raise money for The Family Care Network (www.fcni.org) which helps provide for foster and high needs children. I would like to congratulate Santa Ynez BBQ for their GC and Big Matt and the boys with Left Coast Q for another RGC.
Being held in Santa Maria (tri-tip capital of the world), they had to do a tri-tip category. This was so much fun getting to try our hand against families who have been cooking tri-tip for hundreds of years. We missed the money buy 1 but I'll take 4th any day against those local boys. Even better than that, the Mayor of Santa Maria made a point to swing by to stock up on our Santa Maria Style rub since he blew through all he bought last year.
The West Coast better watch out for these Left Coast Q boys. They won't to Myron Mixon's class earlier this year and wrapped up 2 RGS's in their first 3 contests. Not only are they good cooks but they are even better guys. We had a great time with them this weekend and look forward to many more.
I would really like to thank all of you who reviewed my boxes a couple weeks and gave me some suggestions (especially on our pork). Between Kosmo's Pork Injection and your suggestions, we managed to put it all together and take home a 1st place in pork. Kosmo's brisket injection and chicken soak has kept us walking all year so thanks a million to Kosmo (www.kosmosq.com) for the top notch products.
