• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

BOLO for Hatch :becky:

Walked into Sprouts and pleasantly surprised to see Hatch Chiles at .68/lb  Cheapest I've ever bought. Harvest must've been good this year.

Paid $16.99 for the 25lb box??

You know? Maybe it's worth a shot on cold cereal. :becky: Never know. Kinda like the chocolate chip cookie story.

Friday can't come fast enough.

thanks for the threads sako, how long in the plastic bag?

I compile them in a big heavy duty trash bag until I finish roasting all of them. I seal it back up each time I load some more to keep the steam in there. They can be in there for a while with no ill effects. If you're doing a small batch I'd say about 15 mins rest in the bag. Skin comes up effortlessly.

Cool - I plan on scoring sone next week! Thanks for the heads up Sako!

So there are some benefits to living on the left coast! Have a great chili fest.

H-E-B has them now. I haven't had a chance to go get some yet. I'll get some Saturday and roast / vacuum seal on Sunday.

Great score Sako! I bought a couple of cases last week for .99lb. I had them roast em for me. (yeah, I'm lazy this year)

Dude, that's a lot of chilies. I did two boxes last year that I got for .49 cents a pound from a local grocery (not a chain), took a long, long time and I have tons in the freezer. Probably went overkill. I love the hatch but I don't know if I'd ever do a whole box again.
