• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

So I have 120 in my trailer currently, but as I look to add to the system, the ability to run 12V lights, car stereo is becoming attractive. Is there any good solutions out there that possibly comes with its own switching panel like some RV applications?
Thanks

You would either need to go the deep cycle/inverter route to run your 120V lights off of, or add some 12V leds and wiring to just a single deep cycle. Mine has 12V lights and when connected to the truck are powered. I wouldn't want to rely on that all weekend, but when traveling and you need them for short times, come in handy.

Just pop a car battery and basic battery charger in there. Plug the battery charger into the 110v and keep the battery topped off. Anytime the power is off you will be running the 12v stuff off that battery.

My goal was to have a car stereo semi-permanent mounted, and I do see a lot of cool 12V automotive lighting options that might be interesting to have. Don't really care about having it battery powered, just able to be powered when I'm plugged in.

I was really hoping the converters would be smaller and cheaper than what they are. If Im talking 2-300 just to get 12v, F it.

sounding like a decent and simple idea

This is basically the setup I have in my trailer charging my break-away battery. I wired in a battery tender into an outlet in my trailer and use the interior 12v light to feed back to my battery (of course the truck is unplugged otherwise I would be feeding into the truck as well). When the trailer is plugged up the battery tender ensures that my break-away batter is fully charged.

OK, if you are just looking to run 12V items when your trailer is plugged in, then that is a lot simpler and maintenance free. You just need something like this.

Power Supply
