• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Although I've only had my BKSD for a little while, I'm already in love with it! What I was thinking about was trying to build a bbq out of 1/4 inch steel like the big custom off-sets are made of but using the design of the Bandera as a model. I imagine something like that would be great at holding a steady temp, and I could build all the mods in as needed. Has anyone tried this, do you think it would work? I could do most of the welding myself, so most of the cost would be in materials. Am I just crazy, or could this thing actually fly??? Any ideas on this...

Boss, search this forum for a thread with MOAB in the title

Phil just received a Klose Bandera

I think its 1/4" steel on the smoker, but also 1/2" steel on the firebox.

Things a monster

Great idea and has been done in several forms with great results.

Midnight built the Midnight Smoker:

Jim Ball (off site reference) built a more modest version:

(look down the page where he "documents"....)

And PooBah set the mark high with the MOAB:

I have seen several more--one was just on EBay as a matter of fact.

I toyed With the idea, but lazy.
If I was gonna invest the time and trouble to build one, I would take the size up a bit. Might as well get some extra capacity while you are at it.

Go For it if you wish--it does work well

If I was interested, how does the Klose MAOB measure up to a medium Spicewine as far as price? I love my BSKD, but I will probably invest in something a little more upscale once I develope some skills!!

Probably would be best to discuss prices by PM to Phil and Jay.

Dude, I still love looking at that Klose! I get wood each and everytime! Not to mention that sharp tire cover!
