Mini WSM Build From Weber Smokey Joe ( COMPLETE BUILD )
I found a Weber Smokey Joe on Facebook for only $3. I didn't really need it but I couldn't not buy it. Sooooo..... when I got it home I was like, what am I going to do with this thing? After some googling I...
Reading a post about high heat and wanting the coals as close to the steak as possible wouldn't a smokey Joe be the better go- to than a 22 inch kettle?
Unless you built up the coals wouldn't they be further away on the kettle as opposed to the smokey Joe, or wouldn't you need to use more coals...
Set Up Smokey Joe For grilling With Direct Heat using the Weber RapidFire Chimney To Get The Cowboy Lump Charcoal Heated Up. Fill Chimney 2/3 of the way with lump. Wait til coals on top turn white and dump them out evenly along the bottom of the grill.
Redfish is very similar to red snapper...
To prep for the grill:

Look what I found on CL!
Yup, a wood-handled Smokey Joe....
And it was only $15 samoleans!

It's nice and clean, other than some dust on top, and appears to have only been used once or twice. :)
Anyone know where I can find a date code...
After watching a lot of folks around here build one of these, I decided to give it a try myself...
I started out with my Smokey Joe Silver and one of the IMUSA Tamale Pots from Walmart ($24). I bought a small stainless steel pet food bowl at Walmart ($4) to use as a filter over the air...
Preseason is a pain for the most part, but I always enjoy tailgating, so I go with it. This week (for the first home game) we did Taylor pork roll, egg, and cheese on an english muffin. We used a cast iron skillet on the Smokey Joe to fry the eggs and grilled the Taylor pork roll.
I love my...
I've been wanting to make one of these for a while now. Here is the blow by blow of the build.
Picked up a Smokey Joe.
Picked up a tamale pot.
Found the center of the bottom of the pot. It was marked for me where the light converges.
Drilled a hole, screwed in a screw and used a...
