As if an early morning brisket cook isn't entertaining enough, this weekend we had a small balloon festival. Click Here For The Soundtrack

I was up at 5 getting the cooker going and didn't have time to drive over the park and watch them lift off. But the wind along the mountain must have just right. Because for the next two hours, I got a great show right from my backyard. I know the low ones could smell that brisket.

I missed some good shots of the Stars and Stripes one because I was turning the brisket, and damn near dropped a 15 pound one when they came in low for a landing. I couldn't get my gloves off and to the camera fast enough.

nice pics !!! must have been a nice site.

I need to really try and get a simple S&P rub going on a brisket or chuckie (have one in the freezer).. Still even if I do, I'd have to show a lot of constraint from keeping the quantity applied that light !!!

Those balloons are just cool. I enjoy the festivals they have around here.

Looks like that one guy is ready to jump out of the basket for a taste.

if you would have started giving samples out, they would have all been landing in your yard. Good looking brisket.

That is some really nice looking brisket. What neat little clip did you devise to have the temp probe about an 1" above the brisket? Also, that is beautiful scenery in the background, nice!

Great Pics Beautiful Brisket. I use to get those things by my house all of the time as we were in their flight pattern. Makes a lot of noise. Went up in one once- pretty cool. Did that over the Rockies in CO

I cooked up a brisket on the drum and followed your post from last week.Cool at start and ramped up to 325. I put the rub on a lot thicker also. I would call yours "seasoning". These must be for the wedding too.
Are you doing the Camel Walk on these?

Paul

Good looking brisket- I'll bet those ballooners went looking for Q afterward.

Damn alien q thieves is what they was. Hope you got a tin foil hat on lickety split, always gots to keep one them handy for when them busturds come dropping out of the sky like that.

That's awesome, man. Reminds me of the balloon fest at Albuquerque. Did they come back for grub? :p

Great shots Wayne...(briskies and ballons :p)...we catch them on occasion here in the valley when the wind drifts them our way. Nice bark on the briskets...I'm assuming high heat method with salt, pepper, and garlic?
