We went last year...great contest. We decided to go to Franklin this year instead. It's a contest that I will do again, just not this year. Good luck!

We took 1st in Chicken and 2nd in Brisket in Kennesaw last year, so we'll be back. It's always been a good contest for the JMS Team - look for us at the bottom of the hill by the ballfields.

Update

36 backyard and 42 professional teams so far.

Just got this email from the organizers. Besides the 2 days of music they are adding the following!

Please visit our website www.kennesaw-ga.gov/pkrec/bbqfestival to see all the latest updates on events at the festival.

Here’s a sneak peak…

*Kennesaw, with help from Kennesaw State University, will be trying to set a new WORLD RECORD for largest Dodge Ball game Friday, August 14th on the soccer field here at the festival. You can pre-register to be a part of History, at the above website.

*Also, joining us this year, Kennesong! This booth offers local voice artists the means to showcase their singing ability and compete against other performers. Live 30 second auditions will be videotaped and teleconferenced to a panel of professionals from the recording industry who will critique the performances and select 3-5 finalists. Visitors to www.kennesawwifi.net will be able to view each finalist’s performance and vote for a winner. The winner will get coaching assistance from music pros and have the opportunity for studio time to record a complete song. More importantly, the winner could potentially have a shot at a management contract. For more information, please visit www.kennesawwifi.net.

*Guitar Hero Face Off! The single-elimination competition will take place over the two-day Festival. Contestants can preregister to compete on either Friday or Saturday. Each competitor will face off against another competitor with a 4-5 minute song, the winner advancing to the next round until only one contestant remains. Friday’s top finisher will take on Saturday’s top finisher and the champion will win a PlayStation 3 game console. For more information, please visit www.kennesawwifi.net.

*And last but not least… Our Salute to the Military! All branches of the Armed Forces will be with us at the festival this year, with a heavy emphasis Saturday. A HH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter will be parked on a softball field Friday night, and then again Saturday on our soccer field. Static displays of other vehicles, including the Air Force Jet Car will be seen as well. Just before the Award Ceremony, be sure to look at the sky, as the Black Hawk rains down the Liberty and US Army Silver Wings Jump Teams. All this, while the Air Force Reserve Generation Band is on stage with the Honor Guard.

As contestants, you’ve got the best seat in the house to enjoy a wonderful event while competing for a purse of more than $15,000k.
