Here is a picture of the first UKS XL. I stretched a Coors keg 13" in the middle and I'm working on finishing the welds tomorrow. I will post more pics as the build progresses.

looking good! now all you have to do is build a look-alike that actually holds a keg inside and has a built in chiller. You can't run the smoker without some beer.

Actually he needs to work on a Beer cooler that looks like a BBQ

Smokin..... you keep making these things look so good and I will want a deal on one in consideration for coming up with the UKS name.... You have WAY too many cool toys in that shop! Seriously you should look into brewing your own, you have the capabilities to make yourself a first class brewery for next to nothing...or make me one!

I'd do you guys a deal anyway! If it wasn't for this site and all the genius brethren, the smoker wouldn't be. If it wasnt for all the inspiring words like "that thing will never work" and "sell it for scrap to fund your UDS" there wouldn't have been the drive to build the thing.

LOL! I do call it a UKS here but that isn't a name that'll sell too well so I call it a KEG smoker/grill for my customers. If more people were better versed in the UDS, I would definately go with the UKS. I was thinking of calling this build "Kegenstien!" or "Franken-KEG!"... Thoughts?

Kegerque?

How about the NEW RONCO Protien Generating Beer Keg? As Seen on TV

Yes folks it really does run on nothing more than cheap pork and wood to generate all of the flavorful protien that your family needs without all of the carbohydrates of a normal beer keg

Isn't that a form of alcohol abuse?

So here she is after day #2 of the build. I have all the welding done and most of the blending. I am sanding the hole keg due to the poor shape it was in and had some rust marks from the keg carts it has seen. I pounded out most of the dents but some of them just give her character. It is really becoming a sight to behold! Everyone stopping by the shop just scratches their head and says "wow but what is it?" I tell them it's a govt secret and I wasnt supposed to let them see that much and quickly yank a tarp over it. LOL!

Here is the grate design I proposed to the customer. He will be getting 2 of these, a stainless water pan, 2 XL intakes, and the new coal box shaker MOD.

The customer liked the grates.

I'm thinking "KEG-normous!" for the name...

I took my family over to the shop and my daughter stood in the keg today. All I could see was her head. Sweet.

Here I am on day 3 of the build. I took the time today to finish the major parts of fabrication. I got the 2 rack locations installed and the stainless waterpan. I finished polishing the KEG top to bottom and the 2 air intakes are built and installed. I still need to cut the grates and fire basket and polish the copper pipes on the air intakes. I'm cutting a nameplate to install tomorrow.

We also have a name!

Meet "KEG-Kong!"

Day #4 of this build.

Today I fab'ed the fire box, made the ash shaker MOD, made the 2 identicle racks, and sealed the top ring.

Tomorrow, I will trim the silicone seal, mount the stainless name tag, and give'er the test fire. A suggestion came from Dr_KY to increase the size of the exhaust if I have trouble with temps and "stale smoke."

Outside look at the shaker MOD. Used the springs from the KEG valve the other side matches this one.
