Without looking at the other responses......

6

This is one box that I can say that the garnish and presentaion DEFINATELY
distracts me. The gaps in between the pieces REALLY draw my eye.
It's also uneven and kind of messy looking.

This might just be the lighting in the pic though.

The meat looks nice. Nice color and shine.
Looks appetizing.
The garnish kills this box...........for me, that is. JMO

For me.......the garnish and presentation draws the eye away from the meat in this box.

If the garnish was better.........or none at all.......I would give the meat at least a 7 maybe an 8.

For me.....at least in this pic..........I have to force myself to concentrate on the meat because the garnish and presentation overwhelm the meats appearance.

Kinda like having a Hooters girl for a Table Captain.......very distracting and hard
to concentrate on the meat........in the box!

If you're going to use greens, have the intent of making them look as good as the meat. Greens are supposed to highlight, not detract from, the visual appeal.

My constructive criticism is to lay down a more even bed of greens on the bottom, rather than to fill the gaps from above. Either way, you won't see the white space between the meat, but the bed approach looks better, IMO.

The meat looks well cooked, good color, nice looking skin (not shrunk back, looks crisp). Based strictly on the meat, I'd say low 7. I'm imagining this same box with better executed greens, and I'd give that an 8. If the thighs were trimmed a little more carefully, then I'd say a 9.

It looks like you've got your cooking technique down. A little more refinement in meat prep and greens, and you're going to score consistently high in presentation.

I agree... if you're using greens, a person should not use them poorly and make your box appear sloppy. That box is a 5 IMO as well. Just not much imagination and effort to make things look neat.

5 or 6. It's very haphazardly placed, irregular sized pieces, not very neat or symmetrical.

On the positve side, nice color and shine on the chicken. Better trimming and arrangement would help. And, though you are not supposed to judge garnish, if you use it, it should enhance the overall presentation.

Meat is beautiful but looks like you might have been in a hurry getting it in the box. I would have given a 6 on appearance for that.

I too looked at the meat, screw the greens for the time being. all the pieces on the right are dark striped. Ya got knuckles sticking out and some unusual shapes. Maybe the trimming needs a bit more detail and I suck at trimming chicken. I'd still say average to just below.

The greens are definitely distracting here. Not enough and rather mismatched. Look at the top right corner then the top left corner. No symmetry. also way too much white showing through. Good place to start and lot's of advice to help. don't take it as anything other than suggestions. Scott

Bill, I think your chicken looks great, but the box some work.

I wish I had that issue, unfortunately mine is the opposite.

I'm sorry, but I'd give it a five.

Mantra: If you're going to do garnish, it had better be really good.
