Box opinions please
These pics are from the Cedar Creek Nebraska cookoff this last weekend. It was my best showing so far, but I would like to get everyone's opinions of my boxes.
I'll post the scores later.

Chicken 8
Ribs 8 Pork 7 Brisket 8 Boxes look real good. A little clean up and the 8s would be 9s. JMHO. Good job!

The chicken I'd give a 7 because it looks like the edges are burnt. The rest I'd give a 9 too.

Chicken-6
Looks really heavy on the sauce and some of the edges look a bit burnt. It might be the lighting in the pic but some of the parsley looks yellow. Also, the small piece of meat sticking out from under the skin on the middle right piece draws the eye. Ribs-6 I never did like this arrangement of ribs. It looks like you are hiding the 3 back ones and only had 3 "show" ribs. Pork-8 Brisket-7 That one piece of yellow parsley draws the eye to it and the gap in the green on the left sticks out. Nice smoke ring. Other than being really heavy on the sauce, the meat looks really good. The brisket slices probably look best to me. The burnt ends look a bit dry on top but it could be the pic. That being said, I'd eat all of it!

Here are the scores for appearance
Chicken: 878678 Total- 149.7142 12th place. Ribs: 897888 Total- 164.0000 2nd place. Pork: 888988 Total- 157.7143 6th place. Brisket: 977779 Total- 159.4287 4th place. Overall: 630.8572 3rd place. Chicken is my nemesis. I really need to change something, but I dont know what. I think it may be too spicy for the judges. It sucks knowing that if I did better in chicken that I would have probably taken RGC, but I am still really really happy with how we did.

chicken 7 - darker than i like and resting low in the garnish
ribs - 9 looks great pork - 8 looked good, but fill up the box for the "wow" factor brisket - 9 i really like the look of a good bark on brisket i didn't want to be influenced so i went right to the bottom without looking at the other scores and posted. in general, i'd be very happy with that quality at turn-in time.

I do not attest to knowing how to cook KCBS, but I think the chicken doesn't look so good, I liked the way everything else looked.
Therefore chicken 6, ribs 8, pork 8 and brisket 8. Now I have a question, those of you who do cook KCBS, How does the garnish look on these boxes other than the yellow piece in with the brisket? I guess we posted about the same time, I came back and edited my post to say congrats on the Third Place finish. Last year I got a couple of fourths and a third, this year, I have gotten a third and a second, I tied with the GC on the 2nd, but he beat me on brisket scores. Anyway, my point is, it aint easy, if it was anyone could do it....... Good luck on your next event, You are right there.....

Chicken - A litle dark and the middle right chicken seems to have something wrong with it in the bottom right corner Ribs - I woudl have liked to see the ribs more spread out - i think what i am trying to say is the presentation seems narrow pork - nothing special about it but nothing really wrong with it either i like the brisket but just seems a little messy

I agree about the lighter colored parsley in the box, and they crazy thing is that I thought I picked it all out. Here is a picture of the chicken box the first time I put it together to turn it in.
The lighting in the trailer isnt that great and I really didnt notice the lighter stuff till I looked at the picture on the digital camera. Then I tried to get all the light stuff out and turned in the box pictured at the top of the page. I thought I caught all of it with the other boxes, but I did miss a peice in the brisket box.
